WHAT TO EXPECT
Our massage rooms are conveniently located between the men’s and women’s locker rooms for your ease of access. To make the most of your time, we encourage you to arrive ready for your session at the scheduled start. Lockers are available for storing your clothing and personal items, and you are welcome to change either in the locker rooms or, if you prefer, directly in the massage room.
Because appointments are scheduled back-to-back, changing in the locker room is the most efficient way to maximize your treatment time. When your appointment begins, simply knock on your therapist’s door and they will be there to greet you. To ensure the best possible experience, please share any allergies, health concerns, or important medical information with your therapist prior to your session.
INSURANCE BILLING POLICY
At Seattle Athletic Club Downtown, we do not process insurance billing directly. Our facilities are designed to provide outstanding service and care, but we are not set up to handle the complex requirements of insurance companies.
Coverage for massage therapy varies by provider. Some insurers only reimburse services provided by in-network practitioners, while others may allow out-of-network care with a higher co-pay or additional documentation. In most cases, you will need to submit a receipt and possibly the therapist’s license number or tax ID to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please let your therapist know in advance if you require documentation so we can prepare it for you.
If you are receiving treatment following an auto accident, you may have the option of selecting your own therapist. Be sure to inform your therapist at the start of your session if you have an active claim so that appropriate notes can be recorded.
For members with insurance plans that cover massage outside of the club, our team is here to support you. You may request a referral through your therapist or by contacting our Massage Director, Jessie Jo Egersett, who will be glad to assist you in finding the care you need.

Schedule with Carrie: Through our App, via the online portal, or by calling 206.443.1111
About Carrie
Carrie developed an interest in alternative medicine and bodywork early in life from grandparents who lived in China as medical missionaries. Their stories of the power of acupuncture, chi gong, and tai chi influenced how she learned about health and wellness and continue to inspire her on a regular basis.
More about Carrie
A series of injuries led her to attend massage school, initially for self care. The experiences she had while in school combined with a 20 year career as a member of a research group at the University of Washington School of Public Health, however, led her to pursue massage therapy as a career choice. Her training and experience as a biochemist underscore her commitment to the effectiveness of manual therapies.
Carrie loves to work with her hands and be of service wherever possible. She is continually humbled by and in awe of the power of touch.

Misa Shimizu - Licensed Massage Practitioner | #MA00021700
Schedule with Misa: Through our App, via the online portal, or by calling 206.443.1111
About Misa
Misa graduated from the 1000-hour COMTA accredited professional massage license program at the Brian Utting School of Massage in 2008. Prior to that, she came to the United States from Japan in 1992 with her family. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
More about Misa
Somewhat later, Misa met an acupuncturist who inspired her to become a massage therapist. After receiving one hour of intense massage by the acupuncturist, she was very amazed at the results: her chronically injured legs were much improved in range of motion; she regained energy and began to feel much better about herself. A few months later, she was attending a workshop at massage school!
After completing the program, she worked for a chiropractic office, specializing in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Circulatory Massage, and Injury Treatment. Misa’s passion is to provide comfort and relaxation through massage. She likes to explore the body, find the source of pain or discomfort, and alleviate it. She is very excited to be part of the Seattle Athletic Club community.
In her spare time, Misa likes spending time with her dog, a Miniature Schnauzer, and her husband. Misa enjoys hiking, swimming and soaking in hot springs.
