Beginner Squash Programs

Hello starting squasher, we are very excited to see our squash community grow and therefore we have these (partly) new activities that you can join in to get to know other new players and of course improve your game!

Complimentary Beginners Clinic

Every first Monday of the month. Perhaps your first time on a squash court. In this 60 minute clinic we efficiently go through the basic racquet technique, rules and the tactics. This is a group session for max. 8 persons.

ABC-squash

ABC stands for Adult Beginners Clinic and it is the next step after the Complimentary Beginners Clinic.

This weekly Sunday afternoon clinic is for the starting squash player who likes to improve the basic technical and tactical skills and also meet other new squash playing members of the club.

Sundays from 1:30pm to 2:30 (Max. 9 persons) cost: $25

Sunday Drop-In

Straight after the ABC there is Sunday Drop-In for the new players from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. This is the beginners Round Robin (participants play against each other and switch opponents after one or two games. Sign up for it and we know how many courts to book. Great way to get to know other new players and improve your game. There are no costs on the Drop-In.

Seattle Squash Academy Testimonial – Pavan Nagaraj

My name is Pavan Nagaraj— a proud member of the Seattle Squash Academy. Under the guidance of the coaches at the academy over the last four years, I have developed as an athlete, a competitor, and as a sportsman. I accredit much of my improvement to the coaches’ multi-faceted foci on squash. Squash is a sport that necessitates more than simply physical prowess, but involves psychological and strategic competence. Despite all the coaching a player receives, the player will have to fend for him/herself on the court. The coaches arrange seminars in which professionals lecture on the importance of a positive mindset before entering the court. Before I joined the academy, I did not have the opportunity to explore this physiological component. Since then, I have discerned the importance of a positive mindset; I now make sure to feel confident before I enter the court. Next to mental strength, the coaches also stress the importance of strategy. I have learned to consider squash not just as a sport, but also as an art; every shot is crafted by the player, and has a deadly purpose. Whether the shot is intended to wear the opponent down or to hit the winning shot, I have come to always think before I hit the ball—almost always. As a senior ready to embark on my next adventure, college, I would like to thank the academy for making me the player I am today.

Congratulations to Seattle Squash Academy Student: Elena Wagemans

SeattleOpen2016_ElenaWagenmans

On behalf on the Seattle Squash Academy, we would like to congratulate our Junior Athlete Elena Wagemans for reaching the Main Draw of the Samson Seattle Open 2016, after winning two matches in the Qualification draw. Elena beat in her first round, local player Kate Nimmo 3/0 and in the second round she beat English player ranked 86 in the World Alison Thomson 3/0. After reaching the Main Draw without losing a game, Elena lost 3/0 to a solid Christine Nunn ranked 47 in the World, from Australia.

“It was a great experience to play in my second PSA tournament at my club Seattle Athletic Club and to make it to the Main Draw! The Academy has allowed me to play with other kids of my age, something that I rarely get to do in Seattle! I’m looking forward to play again next year!” Elena said.
