Body Fat Testing at the SAC

Complimentary for members |  Ongoing

There are many ways to perform a body fat test; here at the club we use the 7-site skinfold test. Here are the basics of what you should know about the 7-site skinfold test:

  • It is fast; usually taking about 15 minutes to perform
  • It is easy to perform; we only needing access to your torso and thigh
  • It is very accurate; with the standard error being 2-3%
  • It gives you a baseline; knowing your starting point is important for tracking progress
  • It is also very affordable; being a complimentary service to members

If you would like to know where your body fat percentage is just find any personal fitness trainers at the club and ask them for an appointment to get tested.

SAC – Ragnar Relay Team

July 15-16th, 2016 | Spots are first come first serve

What is the SAC Ragnar Relay Team?

It’s a co-ed team of 12 people, running relay style from Blaine, WA to Langley, WA. The team will complete 196 miles of scenic terrain over two days and one night, until the entire team crosses the finish line together!

How does it work?

One runner hits the road at a time. Each participant runs three times, with each leg ranging between 3-13 miles and varying in difficulty. Runners average about 17 total miles.

While one person runs, teammates are on support duty in their race vehicles. As each runner begins, the crew in the vehicle can drive ahead, cheer their runner on, and meet them at the exchange point to pick them up and drop off the next runner.

Requirements:

Some distance running experience is required. Don’t worry about speed or pace. We are more interested that you have a fun and positive attitude!

Why you should do it?

You will have an amazing team bonding experience.

Check it out!

Pregnancy Massage

A woman’s body undergoes profound physical and metabolic changes over the course of pregnancy and massage can be a powerful tool for supporting these changes by soothing and balancing the nervous system and improving many of the symptoms that may develop as the fetus grows.

Many women experience headaches, muscle pain, fatigue, or swelling, and an experienced therapist can reduce and sometimes alleviate any or all of these. Touch is an effective tool for balancing the sympathetic(fight or flight) and parasympathetic(rest and digest) branches of the autonomic nervous system. When in balance, our bodies function better; this is especially important during pregnancy. Massage also increases levels of serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins in the bloodstream, which decrease pain and increase restful sleep and feelings of well being along with other benefits.

There are special considerations for massage and pregnancy, and it is good to consult with your healthcare provider to rule out any complications that could be contraindicated for receiving massage. It is also important to be properly positioned on the table to protect and support the health of the child, either side-lying or with specialized body cushions. Which we do have here at the club and can use upon request. A licensed practitioner will have received basic education in pregnancy massage, and many of us have gone on for more advanced training. Let us know if we can help, we are always available to assist with your  bodywork needs.
