Dear Loyal Member,

In an effort to keep your club private, we’re sending out this reminder that ALL members and guests must check-in with the Sports Desk; regardless of if you’re working out, needing a locker or simply meeting a friend for coffee.

We’re also asking that you please take the time to make sure we have an updated, clear picture of you on file.  These policies and requests are to ensure the safety of you and your fellow members while enjoying your Club.  We appreciate your help and cooperation as we continue to better serve you here at the Seattle Athletic Club.

Ragnar Relay

SAC – Ragnar Relay Team Looking for Runners!

It is a CO-ED team of 12 crazy people running relay style from Blaine, WA to Langley on Whidbey Island, covering 200 miles of scenic terrain over a 24 hour + period in a race to cross the finish line.

July 14-15th 2017, North West Passage. Spots are first come first serve!

How does it work?

Each team member will participate in running 3 legs of the course, each of various distances in a rotation fashion. We have 2 large vans (rented), 6 people in each van and each member has a number. Van 1 begins with runner 1, followed by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc until Van 2 meets at check point to take over with runner 7, 8, 9, 10 etc. We continue to leap frog each other and cheer each other on as we continue towards the finish line in however amount of time we complete it!! Yes, you will get nap times in between!

There may be ONE longer distance in one of your legs, with shorter easier runs for the others. You will need to be able to run a minimum of 7-10 miles for your long run AND possess a great attitude!

Why you should do it?

You will have an amazing team bonding experience! You will run through beautiful landscape. You will have so much fun and MANY great stories! It’s an AMAZING challenge. Proceeds go toward ALS Association (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Check it out!

Straight after the ABC there is Sunday Drop-In for the new players from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. Great way to get to know other new players and improve your game. There are no costs on the Drop-In.

Seattle Squash Academy Testimonial – Pavan Nagaraj

My name is Pavan Nagaraj— a proud member of the Seattle Squash Academy. Under the guidance of the coaches at the academy over the last four years, I have developed as an athlete, a competitor, and as a sportsman. I accredit much of my improvement to the coaches’ multi-faceted foci on squash. Squash is a sport that necessitates more than simply physical prowess, but involves psychological and strategic competence. Despite all the coaching a player receives, the player will have to fend for him/herself on the court. The coaches arrange seminars in which professionals lecture on the importance of a positive mindset before entering the court. Before I joined the academy, I did not have the opportunity to explore this physiological component. Since then, I have discerned the importance of a positive mindset; I now make sure to feel confident before I enter the court. Next to mental strength, the coaches also stress the importance of strategy. I have learned to consider squash not just as a sport, but also as an art; every shot is crafted by the player, and has a deadly purpose. Whether the shot is intended to wear the opponent down or to hit the winning shot, I have come to always think before I hit the ball—almost always. As a senior ready to embark on my next adventure, college, I would like to thank the academy for making me the player I am today.
