We strongly suggest that parents stay on the premises at all times. We strongly recommend that children’s hands be washed immediately before entering the Child Center. Bottles may be brought in for children under the age of two if necessary. Sippie cups are allowed. Remember to label bags, bottles and cups (must be non-spill cups only).

Reservations

  • Reservations are required and can be made up to one week in advance by calling the Childcare Center at 206-443-1111.
  • Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance to ensure that we have appropriate coverage.
  • If there are no reservations, the Childcare Center will be CLOSED.

Schedule

  • Morning reservations are available from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
  • Evening reservations are available from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
  • Saturday and Sunday reservations are available from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.
  • You MUST have a reservation on the weekend.
  • Spots tend to FILL UP quickly, so please plan in advance.
  • Drop-ins may be turned away due to limited space. However, we will try to accommodate your child if space is available.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made at least TWO HOURS prior to scheduled arrival time. Your account will be charged the full amount of the reservation if you cancel less than two hours in advance. If you are going to be late, please let the Childcare Center staff know by calling 206-838-1818.

Capacity & Age

We accept 8 children MAXIMUM in the Child Center PER Child Center attendant. Please understand when making reservations that 1 infant counts as 2 non-infant age children since they require special care. Ages 8 weeks to 7 years old are welcome. Infants 8 weeks to children 15 months of age are allowed in the Child Center up to 3 hours to accommodate their special needs. Please keep your reservation time as you reserved, meaning if your child is in there until 2:00 PM, pick them up at the scheduled time. If not, this throws our count off and other children are affected.

Health Procedures

For the protection of other children as well as your own, please do not ask us to care for your child if they are ill, or have any of the following symptoms:

  • Contagious Virus
  • Lethargic and Cranky
  • Fever within 24 hours
  • Diarrhea and/or nausea
  • Discharge from eyes or ears
  • Profuse or light nasal discharge

Our childcare personnel reserve the right to refuse admittance of any ill children into the Child Center. If your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness, please contact us as a precaution. This will allow us to notify other parents. Your help in following these guidelines will help us provide a healthy environment for your children.

Behavioral Problems

Children with behavioral problems are extremely disruptive for the entire group. If there are any behavioral issues with your child that are out of the ordinary realm, the staff will page you or call you to come assist us with your child and they will NOT be allowed back into our center for that day. We encourage parents to help us in this area to help make this a super environment for kids to play.

The Child Center Safety Rules

Children who attend the Child Center must have nails neatly trimmed. Small toys that can be a potential choking hazard to smaller children are prohibited at the Child Center.

Personal Belongings

Please label all items brought into the Child Center. This will help childcare staff keep track of items as well as prevents germs from spreading especially with cups and other eating utensils.

First time at the Child Center?

If your child is new to the Child Center, bring a special toy or something to help them feel more at home and secure. Plan extra time to stay with your child until they feel comfortable. For the safety of your child, we only release children to the person who signs them into the Child Center. Parents MUST sign their child into the area. It is a MUST that we have your first & last name to page if needed.

USA Swimming - Aqua Dynamics Swim Team (AQUA)

The Seattle Athletic Club is the premier host for the year-round, USA Swimming team the Aqua Dynamics Swim Team (AQUA). This team is dedicated to instilling a life-long passion for the sport of swimming by providing a positive, safe, respectful and fun environment in which swimmers learn how to swim competitively while learning the science behind the sport as well.

Through goal setting and training with a purpose, athletes will identify and overcome perceived limitations and achieve their true potential. We believe that the principles that guide AQUA will transfer to every aspect of our athletes’ lives.

Team members range from the ages of 8 to 18 and are divided into groups and practices based on ability and age. In order to join the team, swimmers MUST be able to swim freestyle and backstroke across the pool without hesitating, stopping or struggling.

There are three fundamental groups at AQUA; the Developmental Group, Age Group and Senior Group. Each group focuses on different aspects of competitive swimming with intensity, frequency and duration increasing as the swimmer moves up in groups. Groups are determined based on ability, commitment and age. We do not believe in a “one size fits all” criteria when placing swimmers, but instead look at each swimmer individually.

  • Developmental Training

This group is designed for swimmers ages 8-10 who are new to competitive swimming. For safety reasons, swimmers MUST be able to swim freestyle and backstroke for an entire length of the pool without stopping or struggling.

  • Age Group Training

This group is designed for swimmers ages 10-12 who have competitive swimming experience and who are able to commit to at least 3 practices per week. Swimmers in this training group must have previously swum for a club team, or have been approved by the Head Coach.

  • Senior Training

This group is designed for swimmers ages 13-18 who have competitive swimming experience (summer league and high school swimming counts towards experience). Swimmers in this training group are committed to making at least 4 practices per week and all required swim meets.

Stephanie Cummings | Seattle Swim Coach

Stephanie Cummings

USA Swimming Team, Aqua Dynamics Head Coach

Stephanie has been swimming competitively for 16 years and has coached swimmers of all ages and abilities for 13 years. She swam for the University of New Mexico and is the Head Coach of the Aqua Dynamics Swim Team in Seattle.

Stephanie has coached a variety of teams during her career including White Water Aquatics, Central Area Aquatic Team, and is the Head Coach of the Olympic View Maddogs

Stephanie's coaching philosophy is to make swimming a “lifelong sport”, and to instill the same amount of passion and love of the sport into her swimmers that she has. “To be a good swimmer, you must be strong and powerful, to be a great swimmer, you must also understand hydrodynamics.” When it comes to competition, Stephanie believes that swimmers are only racing against one thing…the clock. “There will always be someone faster than you, there will always be someone slower than you, but if you improve your time, you are automatically a winner.”
