Pilates at Seattle Athletic Club

Pilates is a method of exercise that stretches and strengthens your body to build long, lean muscles while improving your posture, creating body awareness and building core muscle strength. The core, or “powerhouse”, consists of the muscles of the back, hips, and abdominals.

The Pilates Studio at Seattle Athletic Club Downtown offers members the ability to train with some of the most recognized brands of equipment including Gratz Universal Reformers, Wunda Chairs, Wall Units, Big Barrels, Spine Correctors, a Pedipole, a Foot Corrector, and a Peak Cadillac (trapeze table).

Our Certified Pilates Instructors have completed rigorous training to attain the highest credentials in the industry. Collectively we have trained with Romana Kryzanowska and Dorothee VandeWalle in the classical Pilates method and Moira Merrithew in the STOTT Pilates style.

Private Sessions

A one-on-one 55-minute class with a certified instructor focused on building an individualized program utilizing any of the spring-loaded equipment, taking into consideration your abilities, goals, limitations, and if any, injuries.
55 minute - $60

Semi-Private Sessions

A class of 2 members who are at or near the same level in experience and goals.
55 minute - $37.50 per person

Trio/Quad Sessions

A class of 3-4 members who have similar goals and skills.
55 minute - $30 per person

Pilates Group Sessions

A specialized class of 3-4 members who desire a workout with a unique theme.
55-minute - $30 per person

Pilates 101 for Beginners

This class allows a beginner to learn the basics of the 6 principles of Pilates in the ease of a small group setting.

Busy Mom’s Pilates

A jam-packed workout in 55-minutes, it’s a quick and efficient class for the mom on the go

Pilates for Men

This class is geared to the special needs of men, incorporating core strength and stretching

Wall Unit Class

Wall Unit class is an intermediate/advanced 3-person group who will use the principles of Pilates (control, centering, breath, rhythm, flow, and concentration) on the wall units. We’ll work with leg and arm springs, along with magic circles to further challenge your knowledge of the reformer and mat work.

Advanced Reformer Class

Advanced Reformer is a fast-paced strong intermediate/advanced apparatus class geared towards endurance, transitions, and flow. It will be a high energy, challenging hour of pure reformer providing entire body conditioning. You will practice proper breathing, efficient transitions and learn and execute all 60 reformer exercises in a 55-minute session!

A Pilates Instructor since 1999, Danielle first received her B.F.A. in Dance from Stephens College. She studied anatomy, kinesiology, ballet, and modern dance. After three years, Danielle realized that her body had survived without any injuries despite demanding physical challenges. She was enjoying the strength, flexibility and lean muscles from daily Pilates classes.

Inspired by her love of dance, Danielle brings energy and artistry to her hands-on style of teaching. She studied with brilliant teachers, including Janice Dulak, Juanita Lopez, and Lori Coleman-Brown. She continues her annual continued education with the ever-inspiring Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo.

Christin lives an active lifestyle as a contemporary dancer and co-founder of Coriolis Dance Collective with Natascha Greenwalt Murphy, as well as teaches dance at several studios in the Puget Sound Area. She began practicing classical Pilates in her teens with Aliesa George and Mei Wong of Centerworks Pilates in Wichita, KS. With Pilates’ unique method of developing long, lean muscles, it was an excellent way to cross-train and further develop her athleticism. When a severe back injury sidelined her dance career for 4 years, she discovered how the modular nature and low impact of Pilates also allowed her to be physically active without pain, rehabilitating her injury and resulting in her eventual return to the stage.

She received her certification from Master Teacher Dorothee VandeWalle at Metropolitan Pilates. As an instructor, Christin is very hands-on and gives generous feedback. Her approach is to collaborate with clients in order to address issues of alignment, muscle imbalances, and body awareness, molding each session to the specific needs in a way that will help each client stand taller, move with greater ease, and feel better not just in the Pilates studio but in everyday life.

Lifestyle Coach | Pilates Instructor | Enneagram Practitioner

Lindsey received her B.F.A. from Emerson University in Dance and Theater and her M.A. from Lesley University in Social Sciences. She has worked and trained as a dancer, health instructor and muscular therapist in Europe, Asia, and Australia for thirteen plus years. In this time, she attained degrees and certifications in Muscular Therapy, Thai Massage, Enneagram Coaching and the full sweep of Pilates practicum, This international experience is reflected in her training methodology and knowledge of the body.

Lindsey believes that the body is a manifestation of our inner work and growth. This philosophy is infused throughout her work with her clients which Lindsey believes is a careful balance between teaching and learning together.

When not in the studio Lindsey continues to pursue her artistic side through writing, performing, and storytelling as well as in her family life. She is blessed to have a pigeon pair of beautiful children and a "totally awesome husband."

Levi started Pilates a few years after he moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. As an athlete and D-1 club volleyball player, he was constantly looking for ways to become stronger and more limber. Competitive sports, as well as everyday life, took a toll on his body and Pilates proved to give the balance he had been seeking. Jocelyn is an avid outdoor cyclist, short course triathlon competitor and golfer. After a shoulder injury in 1999, her doctor recommended Pilates for rehabilitation. Pilates not only gave her relief, but improved her flexibility and strength, enhancing her athletic performance. She soon obtained the Stott Pilates Instructor Certification to share her Pilates passion with others.

Jocelyn teaches Pilates mat classes, private/duet sessions and cycling classes. Jocelyn’s motivating and encouraging technique leaves you with a lifted spirit and recharged energy.

Svetlana is a contortionist performance artist and an original cast member of Teatro ZinZanni. Originally from Russia, she studied at the Kiev Circus Academy and has performed at some of the most distinguished venues in Europe. She trained under master teacher Dorothee VandeWalle in the classical, authentic method in order to keep her body free of injury. The deep knowledge of body give Svetlana skills to help her clients achieve more strength, flexibility, body control, and proper alignment.

ARMed and Ready Pilates

Using arm weights, the magic circle, and internal muscle resistance will develop upper body strength and add a challenge to the intermediate matwork.

Basic Pilates Mat

Designed with the beginner in mind, this class will slowly take you through the basic principles, vocabulary and exercises of Pilates. Modifications will be demonstrated and goals of each exercise explained. No previous Pilates experience necessary.

Fundamentals of Pilates

This class is designed for the beginner student who wants to deepen his understanding of Pilates. Attention to precise movement, focused breathing, and gaining core control are the key elements in this class to further strengthen the "powerhouse". All levels welcome!

Intermediate Pilates Mat

This class is a series of nearly 30 exercises geared toward improving one's "powerhouse "-- abdominals, lower back, hips and inner thighs. We move swiftly, so bring your Pilates know-how to get the most out of this class.

Pilates for Men (and everyone)

A vigorously paced, continuous flow through the intermediate matwork challenges lung capacity, abdominal strength, and coordination while including all the benefits of lengthening and strengthening as intended by Joseph Pilates.

Pilates for Stronger Legs & Better Balance

This class includes the standing series which creates awareness of the feet and stability in the legs by focusing on toning the glutes, inner thighs, and hamstrings.

Variety Advanced Pilates

A fast-paced class geared to students who have extensive knowledge of Pilates and are up for anything!

Weekend Warrior Pilates

Rejuvenate yourself with this intermediate mat that focuses on the deep postural muscles and stretching through the limbs to leave you feeling longer, taller, and ready to enjoy your weekend warrior activities.
